Don Berry's Tour de Cure Page!
I'm signed up for the Silicon Valley Tour de Cure again this year and once again I'm asking for your support in the fight against diabetes. I may not be able to do my usual route this year. In October of 2018 I was riding in the Foxy Century in Davis and had to quit after 65 miles. I usually finish the 100 miles without undue difficulty, but a combination of heat and pain in my shoulder forced me to quit. The shoulder pain had been troubling me and increasing all summer. After the Foxy I tried resting the shoulder, then physical therapy and finally surgery in February. It will be late May before the doctors let me get back on my road bike. So, in March, after over four months of not riding, I started riding a recumbent trike where I don't put stress on the shoulder. The Tour de Cure courses are challenging for me and with limited time left to train, I may have to be satisfied with the "kiddie" course this year. I'm working hard to be able to ride one of the longer courses, and ultimately, to ride the Foxy again this fall. Your donations not only help in the fight against diabetes, but they help motivate me to ride on the days when the call of the sofa beckons me. So, please, make a generous donation to support me and the fight against diabetes.
If you never know what to get me for my birthday or Christmas, this would be a good choice.
You can watch my training progress by signing up to follow me on Strava at: http://www.strava.com/athletes/don_berry.
I don’t like asking friends for money, and this is the only cause for which I do that, so please donate. It’s really important to me and to millions of others.
