2018 Tour de Cure
This year the Tour de Cure will again be a very special one for me. In December 2012, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. With the support of my family, friends, co-workers, primary care doctor, and the American Diabetes Association, I ride to hellp find a cure!
My story begins in 1993. This was my first (and Rochester New York's) Tour de Cure!! I find it truly amazing that I am one of three people who have rode in all the Rochester Tours!! This being my (and of course Rochester NY's) 25th Tour de Cure, I took on the responsibility of being Team Captain for Team Red Rochester. I have been riding in the Tour to honor my Grampa Hunt, who passed away in 1967 with complications from diabetes. When I was first diagnosed, it was scary. But then I learned there are a lot of people who are diabetic who have it worse than I do. This is another reason why I ride.
Recently I was interviewed for an article in the June 2nd 2017 edition of the Rochester Business Journal for riding in all the Rochester Tour de Cure's and in today Wednesday June 7th's edition of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle for the Rochester Tour as well!! There are links to those articles on their respective websites as well as on my Facebook page!!
On Saturday June 9th, 2018.....my sixth year riding on Team Red Rochester....I will be bicycling in the 26th Rochester New York Tour de Cure!! At this time I am asking anyone who would like to make a donation on my behalf. Please click on the "Donate To Me" button here on my page. Thank you!!
I am psyched to be riding with all the Red Riders (and Red Striders for those who are either walking or running) on this very special day!! It definitely will be a rewarding day for all of us!! Thank you for your support to help find a cure for Diabetes!!
