Welcome to Steve Schmidt's 2016 Tour de Cure Page
Support Those Affected by Donating to the Tour de Cure!
I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's San Diego Tour de Cure fundraising event on April 29, 2017 because diabetes has impacted my family and friends. Please support those who live with Diabetes every day such as my friend Tony D by making a donation. Select the "Donate to Me" link on this page.
Help Make a Difference!
I first wanted to enter this annual event in 2009. But I was not in the shape to do it. But I worked hard and entered in 2010 riding in the 32 miles version. And I have been riding the event's century route (100 miles) every year since.
Thanks to you these events were a huge success and over the past six years you raised nearly $24,000 for this worthy cause, for which I am very grateful. And I hope you can help once again. In 2017 I will once again be a proud member of Team Leidos!
The funds we raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
No matter how small or large, your generous gift will help improve the lives of more than 23.6 million Americans who suffer from diabetes, in the hope that future generations can live in a world without this disease. Together, we can all make a difference.
Thank you for making a generous contribution to this cause that is so important to me.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors appear to play roles. There are 23.6 million Americans living with diabetes, a disease that is outpacing heart disease, cancer and AIDS. Diabetes is a disease that has deadly serious consequences, and there is no cure.
