Please support me in Tour de Cure!
August marks the 9th anniversary of my diagnosis with pre-diabetes. 9 years of successfully managing to keep my A1c under 5.8—not an easy effort, but along with the help of two oral diabetes meds, so far so good. Although I have success, I watch many of my friends and family struggle. Diabetes is a disease with a mind of its own. No matter how careful, diabetes can turn on you without notice. The prevalence is horrific—over 30 million Americans have diabetes—about 9.5% of the population. This doesn’t include the 84+ million people like me with pre-diabetes. People are dying from diabetes-related issues at a rate that far exceeds deaths from the opioid crisis in our country.
Because of the ‘epidemic’ and that I, and so many members of my immediate and extended family and friends are living with diabetes, I continue to devote my spare time to the American Diabetes Association through Tour de Cure. September 8th will be my 11th Tour de Cure and my 7th year on the planning committee.
I am asking for your help to Stop Diabetes. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Diabetes Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.
My goal is to raise at least $2500.00. I have made a self-donation of $500.00 with my employer making a matching donation. Please help me reach my goal by supporting me for this year’s Tour de Cure. Please go to my Web Page (http://main.diabetes.org/goto/deanaclehman) to make a secure, 100% tax deductible donation. If you do not want to donate online, make your check payable to the American Diabetes Association and mail your contribution to me at 10552 Julian Street; Westminster, CO 80031. Fund raising closes October 1st.
My sincerest thanks,
