Welcome to my Personal Page
Welcome to my Team Safe at School fundraising page!
Once again I am asking you to support me in the Tour de Cure® because finding a cure for diabetes is very personal to me. My daughter Devin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only a year old. She is now 28 and fulfilling her dream of working as an ICU nurse. Although she's fought the daily battles of blood glucose control, she remains strong, independent, and healthy. We are so proud of how Devin has risen above and hasn't let diabetes get in the way of achieving her dreams and living her life to the fullest.
My dad, his siblings, and many other family members and friends work hard everyday to overcome the seriousness and challenges of living with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes really sneaks up on you and is difficult to control. It's a never-ending challenge of balancing food and exercise with medication.
Diabetes - no matter the type - can result in serious medical complications like blindness, amputation, heart and kidney disease. Having a child diagnosed with diabetes turns a family's world upside down. That's why my family has worked hard since Devin's diagnosis to turn lemons into lemonade through our advocacy with the American Diabetes Association.
One final nugget of information....Did you know today alone over 4,100 people will be diagnosed and because more than 30 million adults and children in the United States are living with this terrible disease? Chances are someone in your family or a friend has diabetes too.
Please Help Me Reach My Goal!
When you donate:
- You spread awareness of the devastating effects of diabetes.
- You advocate for a child discriminated against in school because of diabetes.
- You fund life-saving research.
- You provide access to community programs and free resources that help those living with diabetes
By participating in the Tour de Cure, I hope to inspire others to join me and raise money.
Thank you for making a generous donation to this cause that is so important to my family and me.
