Tom's Tour de Cure Web Page! Eight is (not) Enough!!
It matters more!
I told you last year about my step-grandson's Type-1 diagnosis and my opportunity to ride in the New England Classic Tour de Cure (7 days, 558 miles!) I now also serve on the community leadership board of the American Diabetes Association in Hampton Roads. I am also supporting a program called the Changing Lives Challenge, a pilot process to prepare individuals with diabetes (IWD) to participate in the Tour de Cure. So to me, being successful at fund-raising for the ADA matters even more to me.
So, on April 28, 2018, I will once again strap on my cycling shoes and climb aboard my road bike for another 100-mile ride to raise awareness and money for the American Diabetes Association. This will be my 8th century ride in the Tour de Cure of Hampton Roads and I want to make a difference. Please HELP!
Let's get to the real issue - fundraising...
First of all - Thanks to all of my 2017 donors! You contributed to the #2 fundraiser for the Hampton Roads Tour de Cure. This made it 5 consecutive years of being either the first or second highest individual fund-raiser and I'm glad to see that a new participant took over the top spot.
With a lot of 8's in the conversation, I'm going out on a limb and challenging my donors to take me to a level we have not achieved - $8,000. With my participation, and in honor of Josh, who has bravely accepted his new life challenge, and for individuals I hope to encourage via the Changing Lives Challenge, would you play a part and either increase your donation, donate for the first time, and/or pass this webpage or info to someone else? The ADA needs more and more resources to keep up with the challenges this disease presents.
The ADA and the Tour have raised a lot of money over the years, but we still don't yet have the Cure. That's why I ride again and ask YOU, once again, to support the great work of the American Diabetes Association.
By making a donation on my behalf, you will be supporting the Association's research efforts while also helping fund programs and advocacy. If you know of anyone that might be inspired to give to this cause, please forward a link to this page so that they can consider giving to support the American Diabetes Association. It only takes a few clicks if you follow the link above.
Thanks again for your generous donations!
