2020 Virtual Tour de Cure - 1-2-3-4 Success!!
FINAL UPDATE: I successfully completed my 3-4 challenge in the first ever Hampton Roads Virtual Tour de Cure!
In honor of the 34 million people in America with diabetes, I had first raised my goal to $3400. On June 20, 2020, I did a 3-4 all (not a free for all!), completing all three of the choose your move activities... walk, run, and ride, because it is that important in 2020. Diabetes is one of the few underlying conditions that makes COVID-19 even more dangerous. With all of the other pandemic-related charities, the ADA has had to reduce staff knowing that their donations will not be as large as in the past.
So, on June 20, I walked 3.4 miles, then ran 3.4 miles and then rode my bike for 34 miles - and I completed all three in aless than 3:40, 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Thank you to all of my 2020 donors (and those who donated in earlier years too)! The progress of the American Diabetes Association during the last 10 years has been fantastic: in treatment development, research, education and advocacy; but diabetes is still affecting millions, so we cannot stop!
As you know, I have served on our community leadership board and have a step-grandson that is a person with Type-1 diabetes who has experienced many of the challenges of this disease, including stays in the hospital to deal with complications. Your contribution goes a long way and helps in many ways. The ADA needs more and more resources to keep up with the challenges this diresents.
Although I have reached my modified goal of $3400, I would be happy to raise even more and honored if you woud consider donating. Please support the great work of the American Diabetes Association. Please consider a donation of $34 or $340 to keep up the momentum, or perhaps a company match of some targeted amount. I'll did the activity, all you need to do is donate! If you know of anyone that might be inspired to give to this cause, please forward a link to this page so that they can consider giving to support the American Diabetes Association. It only takes a few clicks if you follow the link provided.
Thanks again for your generous donations!
