Welcome to my Personal Page
****Update 9/15/18 I was able to successfully ride and complete the 65.8 mile course through the North Hills of Pittsburgh! My team mates, Dave, Billie Jo, Ann, and Mike completeed the 30 mile and 12 mile rides! Together our team raised 2000+ dollars to the ADA to help find a cure for Diabetes!
Welome to my fundraising page!!! I am super excited for this years event, for many reasons: you can join me as a walker, runner, or bike along with us on September 15th on the Southside River Trail right here in Pittsburgh!!!!
I am asking you to support me in the Tour de Cure(R) because finding a cure for diabetes means so much to me. I ride and fundraise for my son, Thomas. Who was diagnosed at age 12 with Type 1 Diabetes. Managing life without a functional pancreas requires a lot of work, constant blood glucose checks, and he will forever need injections of insulin to live. Diabetes is a complex and life threatening and life shortening disease. Thomas would tell you, “it’s not a big deal”, but I watch him manage his disease daily and know how hard he works to stay healthy. So, I ride to help find a cure for my amazing and brave son, I couldn’t be more proud of him!
As a nurse at UPMC Children's Hospital, as well as a parent, we have learned that managing diabetes is no small task. In order to stay healthy, the daily routines of care and managing all the complexities of this systemic disease take a lot of work. Progress in treatments and monitoring have come a long way thanks to all the research and technical advancements. We are so thankful for all the past donations you may have helped with, and humbly ask for consideration for this years donation to continue bringing improved care, and a cure!
I joined the Tour de Cure because today alone over 4,100 people will be diagnosed and because more than 30 million adults and children in the United States are living with this terrible disease.
Help Me Reach My Goal!
When you donate:
* You spread awareness of the devastating effects of diabetes.
* You advocate for a child discriminated against in school because of diabetes.
* You fund life-saving research.
* You provide access to community programs and free resources that help those living with diabetes
By participating in the Tour de Cure, I hope to inspire others to join me and raise money.
Thank you for making a generous donation to this cause that is so dear to my heart
