Welcome to Joe Howard's Web Page!
I am riding because the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure is so much more than a cycling event to me. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. With help from Medical Weight loss of NY I was able to reverse this condition. I will always need to be mindful of my eating and live the rest of my life controlling the intake of food so as not to return to type 2 but others are not so fortunate.
Here is what I have been able to do with your help in the past. The first year I formed the National Grid team. We were only 6 people took 15th place raising $3,500. The second year we increased the number of the team to 30 employees and took 2nd place at $15,000. Last year we took first place with 72 people and $22,000.
I have chosen to ride because It is my opportunity to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes even my own. Through cycling and a proper diet I have reversed my condition. I am no longer at risk for this for this horrible disease. I was very fortunate to stop this in my life, but others are not so fortunate and cannot control this like I was able too.
I am committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event not because 26 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because I personally know some of them, and I want to do something about it. Won’t you help me start a chain reaction?
Chances are, you also know someone who has been affected by diabetes and you already know how important it is to stop this disease. By making a donation on my behalf or by joining my team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.
With your help, we will fight for a future where a parent does not have to hear that their child has diabetes. A future where an adult does not have to face the uncertain times ahead after receiving a diabetes diagnosis. A future where you and I will know that we had a part in making this possible.
I truly appreciate your support. Together we can Stop Diabetes!
