Still riding for the cause
I'm very excited to announce that I will be riding in the re-branded Wine Country Tour de Cure (former Napa Valley Tour de Cure) in Rohnert Park on June 30, 2019.
It is really hard to believe that this all started nine years ago. I was working at Bio Rad Laboratories and found out that they had a corporate team that raised money for the American Diabetes Association. They were focused, and had a great team captain who motivated the team. I sponsored them and then I thought... I should join them. Why not? This disease has affected my family, my cousins, and my friends.
It was horrible watching my cousins struggle with this disease and always wondering if I too would also become afflicted. As a teenager I became more aware of the impact of this disease with my cousins Nancy, Cathy and Michael. We lost both Cathy and Nancy too young, after many years of suffering. Michael has undergone dialysis, and kidney transplants and is still fighting the battle everyday. I also have several friends and other family members that struggle with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
I pray that no one else has to deal with diabetes
My goal is simple... raise awareness and assist the American Diabetes Association in their ability to do research, that will better the lives of those with diabetes and help find a cure once and for all so that people will no longer have to suffer.
On June 30, 2019, I will join thousands of other riders. I personally dedicate my ride to my cousins Cathy and Nancy who we lost to diabetes and to my cousin Michael who still fights the disease today. I also ride for my uncle Lenny who we lost to diabetes, and to my cousin Dave and Marlette's son Bradley who fights the disease daily. I ride for my friends Lester Higashi, Tony Klemens, Dawn Morrison, Glen Sitz, Tom Sanz, Bo Falcon, Liz Cardoso and countless others that suffer from this disease.
Please join me by supporting my ride with Team Castaways in June 2019, as I ride alongside thousands of other cyclists determined to help end the suffering of so many and if you cannot contribute, then please join Team Castaways as we ride through the beautiful Sonoma Valley!!
Thank you so very much for your support!! It means so much to me.
