Be a part of something greater than yourself!
I'm a Type 2 diabetic. Diabetes is an invisible disease, but that doesn't mean it won't severely affect your quality of life if it's not managed. It has affected mine and those that I love.
My Story: At the time of my diagnosis, every number associated with the human body was elevated - cholesterol, weight, blood pressure and glucose. (Auwe! Some messed up!) I was scared! I lost my mother prematurely to this disease. For me, diabetes made me feel defective/less than, it negatively impacted my quality of life and made me feel isolated, alone.
My Why: Today diabetes will claim 200 lives. Every 23 seconds someone new is diagnosed with diabetes. I have family and friends who are among the nearly 30 million adults and children who have diabetes. I am participating in this event to honor those who have passed away from this disease, to help those struggling with diabetes and to help find a cure to Stop Diabetes. I participate in defiance of my Type 2 diagnosis. I won't let diabetes dictate what I can and cannot do.
Please donate so that we can find a CURE for Diabetes!
