Ride with Steve to end Diabetes!
Due to a conflict with the Fight for Air Ride, I will NOT be riding in the Tour de Cure this year. After killing myself and imposing on other people, it's just too difficult to get to the Tour de Cure.
I appreciate your genorousity, but please do it in the name of another rider.
If you I rode 100 Kilometers (65 miles) in the Tour de Cure in 2014 because I love to ride a road bike, and because I have diabetes. For me, it's the best exercise to keep my blood sugar in check, and I feel my best when I do it. I said I would finish, and finish strong, and that I did.
I rode the same route in 2015 after riding the first two days of The Fight For Air ride, getting up in Wisconsin at 4AM, and driving to Aurora. As such, since the two events collide and it took great effort not only on my part, but that of a friend to stage my car in Wisconsin.
In 2016, I finished the Fight for Air ride in McHenry and drove to the second to last rest stop on the Tour de Cure, where I met with friends, and rode the last 29.1 miles with them before getting a ride back to my car.
I'll have to do the same thing in 2017 due to the way these events are consistently scheduled on the same day. I won't get to see most of my friends and co-participants in the TdC. It's not going to be much fun for me, but the cause is important so I'm willimg to try to do it again.
