Boy. This again.
I've been away from riding the past few years due to back problems. I have ridden less than 100 miles since my last Tour de Cure in 2018; that day I rode around 25 miles and dealt with numbness in a leg to finish.
it seems that these rides are always about some kind of redemption for me; a way to get stronger and stave off one of my underlying health problems. Calling it a co-morbidity in the time of COVID-19 is all the more scary.
During my downtime from my back, my blood sugar did go up. My feet are number. I personally feel the effects of diabetes and this was something I wanted to avoid. I know people who are worse off than I.
Your donations go to a good cause. They also motivate and obligate me to achieve. It's not that I won't do this for myself. It's that, when I'm tired and hurting and want to stop, your support gives me the motivation to push farther. This is from the heart; I appreciate that you've even taken the time out of your day to help.
Thank you, everyone.
