Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
Yep, I got a great start with my Tour de Cure efforts by wearing a pink wig, a pink tutu, and racing on a pink bike at the Syracross V cyclocross race single speed category. Since I rode to a third place finish I put the pink garb on several hours later to stand on the podium and accept my acknowledgement. Was it embarrassing? I guess, at least a little. Once racing started I seemed to forget about it...until I had to brush pink hair out of my eyes.
For the third year the first grade students of APW elementary school had a coin war to benefit the tour de cure. They were joined this year by third grade. I made a few video messages for them in which I showed the the rollers and some bikes, gave a demonstration, but mostly thanked them for their generosity. I am blessed to work with children. They offer daily reminders that humanity is good. Be a better person....act like a kid!
I'm now one week out from the Tour. I've done a few 75 mile rides, hilly and windy both, so I think I'm ready for the century. But...my message is not about me, it's not about riding a bike, it's about being in service to others. I was taught about this in church, by my parents, by my kindergarten teacher...so were you. Help me please, help the 700-800 others riding with me on Sunday 6/12/2016. Donate today!!!
In good health, Dan
