Help tackle one of America's biggest diseases!
It started with just one decision and one intention. I decided to make a difference in my life and the lives of others. First, I registered to participate in the Tour de Cure, which is the primary fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Later, I became a member on the Wisconsin Community Leadership Board for ADA and actively participate today.
As a board member, my responsibilities include raising money to find a cure for diabetes, fighting the consequences that affect the diabetic, their family and friends, and to advocate political and social avenues for supportive legislation that improves life for those living with diabetes. I want to find a cure and I want to make sure those with diabetes can afford to manage the disease.
More than 100 million U.S. adults are now living with diabetes or pre-diabetes, according to a report released in 2017 by the Centers for Disease Control. This is about 1/3 of the total population in the United States. The cost of Insulin, the primary drug to control diabetes, has risen over 550% since 2012. That’s significant and prohibitive for many Americans. So, I try to help. You can help too, just by donating to the American Diabetes Association on my behalf.
Any contribution would mean so much and surely will make a difference. The money raised for the Association, funds critical diabetes research, educational programs, and advocacy efforts.
