Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
It is that time again, time to ride!!!!!!
I am participating in the ADA Tour de Cure to benefit diabetes for the seventh year in a row. This is more than just another cycling ride to me........MUCH more!
I myself am a type 2 diabetic and exercise, in this case cycling, has become a tool that helps me with my diabetes management. Proper exercise and nutrition are vital to not only my lifestyle but my life. Being a diabetic cyclist, I have the distinction for one day (at least), of being referred to as a "Red Rider" (a participant who has diabetes) The added attraction of sharing the road with so many other Red Riders is an awesome feeling. The spirit of community with others who truly understand your situation is a very powerful thing. For me, it was life changing from the very first time I put on my "Red Rider" jersey.
But enough about me,.....let's talk about you!
Here is where you can be a part of this event. All the training rides, pep rallys, and miles ridden are great, but they don't really address the problem. The problem is that we need to work to fund the research for a cure.
That is where you come in....
I'm not going to pull your leg, this event is about fund raising. It takes a great deal of resources to do the research to find a cure. Your donations are the vehicle to make that happen. We can ride around the world, but without your support we are just spinning our wheels (see what I did there, lol)
Besides research, your dollars go to promote diabetes:
Advocacy (combat prejudice)
Awareness (spread the information)
Education (helping diabetics learn how to manage their illness)
Prevention (teaching others how to delay onset or avoid becoming diabetic)
Please prayerfully consider funding me with your financial support......help me help myself and others with this chronic disease
I can ride the miles,.....but YOU can make the difference!!
(T2 diabetic since 2009)
