I Fundraise for Advocacy
As a four year employee of the American Diabetes Association's Legal Advocacy Division, I have dedicated my time to supporting people with diabetes when they face discrimination on account of their diabetes. I've assisted firefighters who have been fired because of misconceptions about diabetes. I've helped toddlers who were turned away from preschool just because of a diagnosis. I've worked with hundreds of individuals who had to deal with a difficult and unfair situation, on top of the unfairness and difficulty of just managing diabetes. And it's been my honor to help people in these times of crisis.
But now it's personal. After joining the ADA, my youngest sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She became one of the 30 million people with diabetes, and now I'm more motivated than ever to find a cure.
Thank you for your support; it goes to the ADA's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Onward!
