Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
The 2016 Tour de Cure was quite an event last year as the rain dowsed riders. We only had 5 teammates as tragedy and injury reduced our team. The Troy Riders raised over $7,400 to fight diabetes in just our third year. WOWSER!! Your contributions are adding up as we've raised over $24,000 in 4 yrs. of riding over 5 rides. Charley, Kim, and friend, Rick Larsen of Birmingham snuck in a Birmingham ride last August...was a treat.
Our team strategy for the 2015 TDC was to add more riders to our team. We felt this would sustain our fundraising over the long-haul, and it worked. By having more riders on our team we felt fundraising will continue even though we may lose a rider for a year. In 2016 a family death and several personal injuries significantly reduced our team; however we held steady with our fundraising. Fundraising and awareness is the goal. We always welcome new team members.
Kim and I ride because on August 9, 2009 our son Neil was diagnosed with Diabetes in the prime of his life at age 16. The disease left us all helpless yet united us to meet the challenges of this disease together. There was no other choice.
If you know someone with diabetes, and would do all that you can to cure them, here is your opportunity. That's what I'm doing....all that I can do. I will ride and create the awareness. You can support the cause with a donation or by joining us for the ride.
Doctors and Researchers continue to work towards a cure. They can't work without $.
