Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
As many of you know, since 2014 i have ridden in the Tour de Cure. In 2014, I did the 100 mile ride. In 2015, Xander Pattison, three of his fellow Scouts BSA from Troop 75 in Delmar, NY, as well as some of their parents, siblings and I did the 50 mile ride. The Scouts also earned their Cycling Merit Badge as well as the Riding segment of the National Outdoor Award. I became a merit badge counsellor for this badge prior to the 2015 Tour de Cure. In 2016, on a very wet day, Xander and five of his fellow Scouts from Troop 75 rode the 50 mile route. In 2017, we rode in Tour de Cure again with a scout and his father attempting the 100 mile ride, one scout doing the metric centry ride and many of us doing the 50 mile ride (I pulled Gabriel on a tandem bike for 50 miles!). In 2018, I rode the metric century (62.5 miles) ride with Xander and many of his fellow scouts rode 50 miles. Beth, Zara and Gabriel each rode 10 miles in 2018. In 2019, Xander and 3 of his fellow scouts rode the metric century ride (62.5 miles). Over the past 5 years, the members in my Tour de Cure team have raised over $30,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
Just like the past five years, i will be working with the Scouts from Troop 75 to learn about road cycling both from a "classroom" perspective as well as out on the road. I am so excited for them and will be riding with them on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Saratoga, NY.
I am committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event not just because so many people in the United States have diabetes, but because both some of Beth's and my family and friends have diabetes. I am also riding in memory of family who had diabetes and are no longer with us.
By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.
i am not just requesting a donation. If you make a donation to the American Diabetes Association for this ride, Beth and I will be right with you and will match it. We will donate up to $1,000 for this ride. Please also support Xander and the rest of the Scouts BSA on this team as well.
I truly appreciate your support. Together we can Stop Diabetes!
