2017 Silicon Valley Tour de Cure

Tabitha approaching finish in 2016 ride
Tabitha approaching finish in 2016 ride

Type Tabi

Committed to ride. Having fun while doing good.

Our team rode in 2016 and had a wonderful day. The Silicon Valley ride is beautiful - and not too hilly! June is the perfect season for a family ride.

We are committed to riding to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Tabitha was diagnosed with Type 1 in December 2015 and has now been managing life, school, food, and exercise with Type 1 for well over a year. She now uses an insulin pump to keep a steady dose of insulin in her system 24/7, and uses the remote that comes with her pump to manage insulin needs for specific meals. It's been a huge improvement for quality of life with diabetes, eliminating the 5+ shots per day she had been experiencing. Now, a second helping at dinner no longer means another shot! She's also using a continuous glucose monitor for constant awareness of changing blood glucose levels - great to have advance notice if it's trending up or down and makes it so much easier to stay in the healthy, target blood glucose range.

Despite all these tools that make it easier to manage diabetes, we are committed to a cure in Tabitha's lifetime. We're riding to raise funds that support critical research - hopefully that will lead to prevention and cure.

Please join us in this effort by riding with the team or making a donation to Type Tabi. I am forever grateful for all of those willing to help and thank you for supporting our team and a cure!
