BLOB - Big Lads/Bodacious Ladies on Bicycles
Our Team is Making a difference. You can too!
Thanks for coming to BLOB’s team page and supporting us in the Tour de Cure!
BLOB - Big Lads on Bicycles / Bodacious Ladies on Bicycles – has been a force to be reckoned with at the Tour de Cure. A mass of humanity and machine racing at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour: cyclists in front tremble in fear; cyclists behind draft with delight…Since we started riding in 2012 (there were only two of us the first year), we’ve raised over $70,000 as a team! Overall, the Northshore Tour de Cure raised over $700,000 last year alone for diabetes research, community-based education programs and advocacy efforts.
BLOB is always looking to expand; we’ve had between 10 and 16 riders the last few years and would love to grow. We ride because we are proud to do our part to Stop Diabetes. Over half BLOB members are co-workers at Weston & Sampson Engineers and we have several Red Riders (riders with diabetes) on the team – which makes this ride even more significant for all of us.
We are teaming up now to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes. We are committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event not because 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because we personally know some of them (some ride on BLOB!), and want to do something about it.
Even though some of us are “big lads,” you don’t have to be one to join BLOB. All are welcome! If you can't join us, please support us! By making a donation or joining our team, you will be making a difference in the fight against diabetes. Everybody reading this page knows somebody battling diabetes.
When we bring together dedicated team members and kind donors, the power we have as a group far outweighs what any of us could do alone.
We are determined to reach our team goal, one rider at a time. Thank you for helping BLOB Stop Diabetes!
