No Spin (McDougall Communications)
Have Fun, Be Well, and Make a Difference!
There are more than 30 million diabetics in the United States, so you know someone who lives with this disease - we won't even say "probably." Wouldn't you like to contribute to research and treatment that makes life easier for them?
Team No Spin is a diverse, dedicated and lively group of people committed to the fight against diabetes, and we would love to have you with us. We promise you that it will be fun, and - whether you're concerned about the fundraising or the physical activity - it will be easier than you think. That has been everyone's experience!
2018 was a stellar year for Team No Spin, as we grew to 15 team members and more than doubled our previous year's fundraising, with a total of more than $25,000. This year, we hope to have at least 20 riders, runners or walkers (30 would be better!), so please join us, and maybe we can hit $40,000!
There's a popular misconception that the Tour de Cure is a painfully long bicycle ride that only a highly conditioned athlete can complete. Come on, just look at us!
The Tour de Cure originated as a bicycle ride (never a race!), but today it also includes a 5K run and a family-friendly 5K walk that anyone can complete. The bike ride distances have something for everyone - your choice of 3, 15, 25, 40, 62, or 100 miles. The courses include frequent rest stops provisioned with healthy snacks, fluids, and "comfort facilities." You'll have public safety, health and mechanical support watching over you all the way around even the long bike routes. You can do this - challenge yourself!
We have your back! Yes, when you join us you commit to raising at least $200 for the American Diabetes Association - which turns out to be easy. Your family and friends, and the family and friends of diabetic patients that you know, will be eager to support you once you tell them you're making this commitment. Plus, your teammates, team captains, and the ADA/Tour de Cure staff are all here to help you with ideas and encouragement.
So, come on … you know you want to! We have team rides, a fun dinner together the evening before the ride/run/walk, and we kick back in our team tent during the awesome after-party that the Tour de Cure provides for participants, featuring live music, food, and fluids. With about 2,000 other participants, this is a party you won't want to miss!
Fun people, fun event, a fitness treat to yourself, and you'll be doing good for our diabetic family members and friends. What's not to love?
