I want to make a difference!
I want to do something good!
If you find yourself saying these things and like to have some fun, get a little exercise, and hang out with a great group of people, please consider joining Team DT. For the 6th year in a row, we are organizing a team that will bike, walk, or run on Saturday, June 1st at the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Tour de Cure. This is a non-competitive biking (choose anywhere from 7 – 100 miles) or walking/running (5K or 10K) event that will raise money for the ADA.
Here’s a few facts and figures about this year’s Team so far:
• We have 14 bikers/runners already signed up. We are hoping to add another 10! In addition, several of our family members have signed up to volunteer, truly making this a family and friends’ event for us.
• We continue to retain almost everyone who participates (proving how much fun this is)! Volunteers often become participants.
• In our 1st 5 years of this event, our team has raised over $50,000! Think of the research, advocacy, and “making lives better” that the ADA can do.
And while you are thinking about this, think about the following:
“I want to make a difference.”
“I want to do something good.”
And most importantly, think of all the people who told you in the last 12 months: “I have (Type I, Type II, pre -) diabetes.” The numbers and costs are staggering.
