Announcing New Date for the Houston Tour de Cure
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Given the circumstances, we are postponing the 2017 Houston Tour de Cure to Saturday, November 4th at Prairie View A&M. Our priority is to provide support and ensure the safety of our diabetes community during this difficult time. We hope you will join us in November to celebrate our resilient community, support the continuing relief efforts and move our vital mission forward.
In addition, we are postponing the Tour de Goya Training Ride, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 9th, to Saturday, September 23rd at 7:30am at GOYA Foods.
This will be our final training ride. Anyone who is unable to join us
at Tour de Cure on November 4th is encouraged to participate in this
event. Additional details on this training ride will be shared via email
and our website soon. Please RSVP for the Tour de Goya Training Ride today. RSVP here.
I am so proud of the work the Association has done over the past 10 days. The Association, along with our coalition partners, JDRF, Insulin for Life (IFL USA) and the Endocrine Society, deployed in the first week almost 4,000 pounds of free diabetes supplies to Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Wharton, Houston and surrounding communities. We were able to provide insulin, and an inventory of more than 750,000 syringes, pen needles, alcohol pads, blood glucose meters, glucose test strips and lancets. Our work is not finished as we continue to recover and begin to rebuild.
Please help us spread the word that the Association has posted critical information and resources for all those affected by diabetes at diabetes.org/hurricaneharvey. Share this link on your social media pages and/or forward this email to friends and family.
Thank you for your commitment to our mission and I look forward to moving forward together.
