Do you or someone you know have diabetes?

Thousands of people with diabetes participate in Tour as "Red Riders". Red Riders are the reason we ride—they are given a jersey to proudly wear on the day of the event. Beyond the recognition, Red Riders are part of a community that inspires us to ride and raise money to Stop Diabetes. Be sure to choose "Red Rider" when you register!

A Few Words from Our Red Rider Chair, Kelly,

Kyle as Red RiderWelcome Red Rider! My name is Kelly Easley and I am the committee chair for the Red Riders.  My son, Kyle is 12 years old and has had Type 1 diabetes for 3 years.  I asked Kyle what he likes about being a Red Rider.  Kyle says he rides because he feels he is doing something positive about the disease.  Kyle says it’s an awesome feeling at the Tour de Cure to know he is not alone with diabetes.  His biggest hope is that a cure will be found in his lifetime & I want to see that happen more than anything!

Thank You Gifts

Tour de Cure participants can earn a variety of exciting thank you gifts including exclusive apparel, popular electronics, and more! They represent our thanks for reaching higher fundraising levels to fund the mission of the American Diabetes Association and the 26 million Americans with diabetes we serve. All registered participants raising the minimum fundraising amount will receive a commemorative Tour de Cure event T-shirt on the day of the local event. Raise $250 or more and you'll earn your choice of thank you gifts!

Check out the Thank You Gift Redemption site for info on the gifts at each level.

2013 Jerseys

If you raise $1,000 or more for a local Tour de Cure you will automatically become a Champion to Stop Diabetes and will receive special recognition on the weekend of the event, along with special perks all year long!

If you raise $2,600, in honor of the 26 million Americans living with diabetes, you will become a Champion on a Mission and will receive the coveted gold Champions jersey.

Team Red

Team Red is for Red Riders (participants with type 1 or type 2 diabetes), their family, friends and anyone else who is looking to join with millions of others who want to Stop Diabetes! Any rider who isn't already on another team can join Team Red.

Being on Team Red means that you will instantly be a part of a community made up of people from all different areas and walks of life. Team Red is a great way to connect with other families supporting a Red Rider and other families that are honoring a loved one with diabetes.

A note from our Team Red Captain, Jeff Cole,

Jeff Cole_SmallMy name is Jeff Cole. I am the 2013 team captain for SE WI Tour De Cure’s Team Red. I have been involved with every Milwaukee Tour since the second one. I am Type II diabetic, my son Shawn is Type I, my brother Allan was Type I, my father George Cole was Type II and my Grandmother Cole was Type I. As you can see, I have a very strong interest in ending this scourge. That’s why the Tour de Cure is so important to me. The money raised goes to fund research that will hopefully find a cure for, and a way to prevent, diabetes. Together we can wipe it out. I look forward to meeting all of you in Grafton.

If I don't have diabetes, can I join Team Red?
YES! You can join Team Red, which is made up of Red Riders AND those who support Red Riders. This is a team for anyone who doesn't already have a team.

Join us as a volunteer!

My name is Gwen Thomasen.  I am the 2013 Volunteer Committee Chair.  I chose to volunteer for the ADA Tour De Cure because I want to make a contribution to the community and to help the ADA. Volunteer participation is vital to this event's success.   By sharing your time and talents, you can ensure this event to be entertaining for the participants and profitable for diabetes research and awareness.  Please consider helping at a rest area by serving snacks, providing our riders breakfast before the race, or serving lunch after the ride.  These opportunities allow you to be part of the action. Volunteers are also needed as Safety and Gear drivers who will keep our riders safe on the trails.  Won't you help us make the Tour De Cure one of the best events in 2013? Groups are welcome!  To volunteer, please contact me via email at volunteers.sewi.tdc@gmail.com .
