Event Highlights

Riders on Route

Tour de Cure is more than just a cycling event. It's a life-changing event. A day full of fun and excitement where riders of all levels join forces in the fight to Stop Diabetes® and raise critical funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy in support of the American Diabetes Association.

The Tour is a ride, not a race. Whether you are an occasional rider or an experienced cyclist, there is a route just for you.

The Tour de Cure Albuquerque offers some of the most scenic vistas as well as highlighting the local flavor of Albuquerque and surrounding areas. You will travel along the Bosque, or area adjacent to the famous Rio Grande River. Historic Route 66 is next as we travel down some of the historic area of Albuquerque. Next you will enter the Isleta Tribe Pueblo and see some of the most scenic Pueblos in New Mexico. In addition, you will see ancient lava fields, beautiful countryside, and visit the cities of Rio Rancho and Bernalillo. Finally, your bicycling odyssey will continue with a trip through the Sandia Pueblo and before you return you will pedal along the base of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. Your tour will end by returning to the world famous Albuquerque Balloon Festival Park where you started your ride. You will truly have seen the best of the Albuquerque area.

The Tour de Cure Albuquerque is a fully supported bicycling event. All aspects of your safety and comfort have been taken into account to ensure your best experience on ride day. Each aid station has a supply of nutritional foods and snacks that will help to fuel your ride. Hydration is an important aspect of bicycling and you will find water at each aid station for you to drink or mix with your favorite energy drink. In between aid stations there will be SAG vehicles that are there to assist you in any emergency you may have on the route. If medical assistance is ever needed, there will be emergency personnel at selected aid stations and you will never be far away from emergency care if needed. Should you suffer a mechanical failure, local bike shops will have mechanics set up at selected aid stations. As we said, you will be fully supported during this event.

Now is the time to register to begin fundraising and training for this truly memorable day riding with fellow ADA supporters.

Champions To Stop Diabetes

When you ride in Tour de Cure, you take part in something unique. You join the ranks of some of the most passionate people in the country people who care about cycling, health and, above all, finding a cure for diabetes.

If you raise $1,000 or more for a local Tour de Cure you will automatically become a Champion to Stop Diabetes and will receive special recognition on the weekend of the event, along with special perks all year long!

If you raise $2,600, in honor of the 26 million Americans living with diabetes, you will become a Champion on a Mission and will receive the coveted gold Champions jersey.

Do you or someone you know have diabetes?

Thousands of people with diabetes participate in Tour as "Red Riders". Red Riders are the reason we ride—they are given a jersey to proudly wear on the day of the event. Beyond the recognition, Red Riders are part of a community that inspires us to ride and raise money to Stop Diabetes. Be sure to choose "Red Rider" when you register!

Late Breaking News

We have three Champion Teams

I am happy to announce that we have two teams that are Diabetes Champions!!! The Radiology Associates of Albuquerque, the Presbyterian Pedalers and 2013 JNJ High Desert have together raised over $6400 for the American Diabetes Association!!! We are proud to have them ride and are looking forward to announcing our next Champion Team.

Just 4 Days Left...

We have 4 days of beautiful training weather ahead. We are excited around here. Can't wait. To help you, we will be at Performance Bicycles May 29th from 5-8p for packet pick-up and to sign up if you haven't already done so. This should help you spend less time getting ready at the start line.

Aid Station Volunteers Needed

We are looking for a few good volunteers to help with the ride. I still have Aid Stations available to staff and need help at the finish line. Call Maria at 505-266-5716 to find out how you can help. (And you get a T-Shirt too)

Training tip of the week.

What can I say. Just take it easy this week. Do some speed work, a short ride or two but nothing strenuous. Get hydrated the day before. Looks like low 80's for the ride so we are going to have some good weather. Be back before late afternoon. Looks like our typical wind situation. Stay safe and I will see you at the start.

25mi route info is back!!! Route information here.

Here are all three routes and their Garmin .gpx information. We are excited here. Everything is a go.
