81 Days to event. 13 teams. 72 riders. Join us!
Our Goal: $113,000.00 | We've Raised: $4,406.00
We are going to have a great time at the all new Tour Kick-Off at the Marriott Pyramid Hotel, 5151 San Francisco Rd NE, in Albuquerque from 10a-2p, March 8th. I am sure that you have seen it off I-25, and we will have lots to do. If nothing else come by an get free water bottles courtesy of our Advocacy Group here in New Mexico. You will be able to sign up, see the route, talk to our logistics folks about the route, volunteer, meet others to plan training rides and more. If you have diabetes, talk to the folks at the Red Rider booth to see how you can get a 2014 edition Red Rider Jersey.
And speaking of the Marriott, they are putting on a special rate for our riders, $89 per night (Regularly $130!). So if you are coming from out of town for the Kick-Off or you are looking to stay a couple of days on ride weekend, be sure and give them a call and mention the Tour de Cure Albuquerque.
And if you have not registered yet (and I am sure you have been meaning to) you can register as of March 3 for $6 off of registration. Now why $6, well this is in honor of my birthday, (not quite 60 but close enough). So wish me a happy birthday at the kick-off. Give me a good present, sign up, donate $26 to yourself and be well on your way to raising your fundraising goal of a minimum of $200.
Now I would like to shout out to Christopher Wolf and Jalin Griffin our highest money raisers at this moment. Christopher has earned himself a Champion prize pack for raising over $1000 and Jalin is ever so close. What you don't know is Jalin is only 10 years old, was diagnosed in December with Type 1 diabetes and has taken control of his disease. Now if that isn't inspiring, I don't know what is. If they get going, they could earn a Champions jersey if they raise $2600 or more. They would get to join this elite group that has only one member, Bill Rivas from Team J&J. This is a totally awesome jersey. Come and see it at the Kick-Off event.
If you know what that line is from, then I will wish you happy birthday as well!! Okay, last but not least, see yours truly on 2 KASA Fox on March 6th to find out why exercise is the best thing to help you manage your diabetes. I and our local celebrity, Marjorie Cypress who is the President of the Health Care and Education Committee, will be on from 7a to 8a. I will give out autographs at the Kick-Off.
