Highlights from Step Out event day:
We are elated to announce that 2,400 of our family, friends, esteemed peers, colleagues, and supporters gathered to join us at the 15th Annual Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event at Kapiolani Park. Dedicated walkers, health fair partners, entertainers, and sponsors braved the high wind advisory to celebrate the red striders within our lives on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Despite a slight chill from the weather, it was a beautiful day filled by the aloha we feel for those affected by the chronic illness and ardent passion to Stop Diabetes ® for the Hawaii community.

We would like to send a very special thank you to Arthur Camara, Mike Ching, Dr. Wilfred Fujimoto, George Isaacs, Dr. Jane K. Kadohiro, Angela Loh, Logan Miller, Cheryl Minaai, Kent Takazawa, Karen Tom, Dr. Laurie K.S. Tom, Sharlene K. Tsuda, and Art Ushijima; Step Out 2014’s Champions to Stop Diabetes ® for their stellar achievements in raising over $1,000 to date.
Red Striders are the reason we continue to fight for federal funding, against discrimination, and raise funds for a cure. This year, over 80 have been recognized as a Red Strider and received a Red Strider cap!
Beyond event recognition, we’d like to extend a welcome and mahalo to those individuals who visited the Red Strider Tent and volunteered to be a part of the Red Strider’s Haven, a group of highly devoted Red Striders who have stepped forward and are willing to lend a voice and presence to diabetics in Hawaii. Please stay tuned for updates or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Together we have touched lives, inspired those with diabetes, and received heartfelt comments of gratitude from family members who have lost their loved ones. We have increased our keiki contacts and invited them to join our Youth and Family Link activities. We have honored our dear Red Striders, as well as encouraged them to join our ADA activities. We have done this with your input, creativity, and volunteerism. THANK YOU! We could not have achieved these results without your awe-inspiring support.Your Step Out Specialists,
