2017 North Shore Tour de Cure

Route and Event Info

Our Tour de Cure event has its own character and style—from a unique starting point to the gorgeous local scenery and so much more!  No matter what route you choose you'll enjoy a fun day at this event for such a great cause.

All Tour de Cure route options are designed with your safety and enjoyment in mind. Choose your distance and know that every mile helps make a difference. Whether short or long, each route is fully supported with rest stops, SAG vehicles and more.

All participants will be given an emergency number to contact should assistance be required during the event.  The North Shore Tour de Cure encourages all riders to observe the rules of the road and to ride safely at all times.

Introducing the 100k Gravel Ride - New for 2017!  We are excited to introduce a gravel ride option for the ride this year. Check out the description below for full details.  The North Shore Tour de Cure is a ride, not a race, and while each route is open to anyone, the North Shore Tour de Cure Routes Committee encourages experienced gravel riders to take advantage of this new adventure ride.

Take a look at our route descriptions below.  Choose your distance and know that every mile helps make a difference in the lives of the 29 million children and adults living with diabetes.

If you already registered and would like to change routes, please contact Tara at or Sandy at

2017_TDC_NorthShore_100KRoute100K Gravel Ride

A gravel, or adventure ride, is a ride that consists of a mix of pavement and gravel roads and light trails. Typically, riders use a bike that is a modified road bike (fatter, larger volume tires), a cyclocross bike, or what is now becoming a segment of bicycles known as gravel or Randonee bikes. These bikes have disc brakes and large volume tires with some knobs for traction. A mountain bike with 29" wheels would be a good choice also, but might make it difficult to keep pace on paved sections.

*Gravel Route is now FINAL. GPS navigation files can be downloaded in either .gpx or .tcx formats by using the export function in Ride with GPS app.

Check-In:  6:00 a.m.

Route Markings 2017_TDC_NorthShore_RouteMarkings

We will have maps and cue sheets at check-in, but we strongly encourage all riders to view the routes before the ride.  Routes will be marked with signage and road markings.

All routes will follow the same colors with the exception of the Gravel Ride (neon yellow/green). A red triangle indicates the Tour de Cure and the yellow markings indicate the direction of the route. Please watch for route signs to indicate where the routes separate.

We will have basic mechanical support at the start line, but we ask all riders to have their bike tuned up and ready to ride prior to the Tour.

If you are in need of a pre-ride tune-up, we encourage you to visit one of our partnering bike shops:  Fit Werx, Seaside Cycle, Woody's Cyclery, Velofix, Urban AdvenTours, JRA CyclesPedalin Fools or Riverside Cycle.
