2018 Tour de Cure: Maryland

Volunteers

Volunteers are so special to the American Diabetes Association and every hour you give makes a major impact. This year, the Tour de Cure has expanded to include a ride, run and a walk so even more volunteers are needed.

Volunteers are really the backbone of the event and help to make the day exceptional. We would love for you to become part of this dynamic, passionate and fun group of people that volunteer together at this event.

Some examples of volunteer opportunities available:

Registration Volunteers:  5:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Come help us check everyone in—collect funds raised, hand out bibs and get waivers signed!

Need: 6 volunteers

Finish Line Cheering: 11 AM to 3 PM

Cheer in our riders as they complete their 63, 29 or 13 mile rides! We’ll have cowbells and foam hands ready for you!

Need: 10 volunteers

Support and Gear Vehicles: 7 AM to 2 PM

Have a large car, SUV or bike rack? We NEED YOU! Help us by circling our routes and making sure our riders are safe on the roads—pick up anyone who needs assistance or mechanical support and drive them to the closest rest area. You’ll be kept aware of locations of riders by radio communications from our command center! Can’t do the entire day? Please consider helping for part of it!

Need: 3 volunteers

Rest Stop: Carroll Manor Elementary: 4434 Carroll Manor Rd, Baldwin, MD 21013; 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM

It’s a Luau! Bring some friends and volunteer at this rest stop for our 63 mile riders! Luau themed food, decorations and leis will be provided!

Need: 3-4

Rest Stop: Amerigas: 4354 Norrisville Rd, White Hall, MD 21161; 8 AM to 10:15 AM

Grab some friends and help out at this Maryland themed rest area for riders or on 63 mile route! All food and drink will be provided for you—just help us set up, and hand out to the riders!

Need: 3-4

Want to be part of the event planning? There is a core group of volunteers who meet throughout the year to help plan the entire event. They help with route planning, volunteer recruitment, event day activities and more.

Whether you have an hour to give or eight hours, your donation of time is so valuable and needed. Please reach out to your local staff contact to learn more:
